Prima, Status, Velvet, and Bottega: new additions to the Italon catalogue

Material selection almost always comes down to one question: what will cover the main area, and what will remain a detail. Four fresh Italon series answer it differently, and they are easier to arrange not alphabetically but by this very role within a project.

Two collections work with scale and a quiet backdrop. The other two reveal themselves at arm's length, where texture matters—and how the surface responds to light.

Stone for large surfaces: Prima and Status

Prima draws on Brazilian dolomite—a stone with a muted palette and fine veining, free of bold graphic gestures. The series offers four colours: White, Ivory, Silver, and Iron, ranging from cool light to deep dark. Formats of 120×120 and 60×120 cm reduce grout lines to a minimum, while the ultra-matte Silk surface with its velvety tactile response renders stone so convincingly that only the tile's flawless geometry betrays it as porcelain stoneware. If an interior calls for colour, the collection provides two accent marbles: Volcano Green and Denim Red.

Status is built on limestone—the very stone from which the Parthenon and the Parisian quartiers are constructed. Five shades carry the palette from cool Arctic through warm Ivory and Desert to deep Carbon and Mocha. Within the series lies an unexpected move: the Corten and Copper slabs imitate oxidised metal with rust and patina, and beside them the restrained stone sounds far more expressive. Completing the range are Surface wall tiles and décors from the Bottega palette.

In brief, which task each new release addresses:

  • Prima — a versatile base for apartments, restaurant floors, and bathrooms in a contemporary-classic spirit.
  • Status — large expanses where the pattern must not fragment the surface or fatigue the eye.
  • Velvet — bedrooms, living rooms, relaxation zones in spas and hotels.
  • Bottega — columns, niches, curves, and anything with a complex form.

Texture you read up close: Velvet and Bottega

Velvet transfers a woven-fabric pattern onto porcelain stoneware, rendered down to the individual thread. The surface emerges matte and deep, with a fine graphic rhythm, yet the characteristics remain ceramic: moisture, abrasion, and regular cleaning pose no threat. The textile palette comprises three shades—Cotton, Cashmere, and Silk—answered by three wood tones: Nordic, Gold, and Oak. The lines were developed together, so a textile wall and a wood-effect floor merge into a single palette. Décor duties fall to the Satori panel, Maxi mosaic, Bottega micro-mosaic, and the structured Surface Carve, which delivers relief under side lighting.

Bottega has been released as a standalone collection, though it also functions within neighbouring series. The surface of each tessera is individually crafted; no two elements in the set are alike, and this is what gives the material its handmade inflection. The engineering side is no less compelling: a 2 mm thickness allows the mosaic to meet any Italon porcelain stoneware in the same plane, without transitions. Floor flows into wall, wall continues as countertop. And where a large format would need to be cut, small mosaic simply follows the form—around a pool basin, a curved partition, or a bench in a hammam.

Comparing the four new releases is easiest in person and under consistent lighting: the nuances of stone colour and the depth of matte surfaces come across only approximately in photographs. All series are now available in the official Italon online store—study specifications on the product pages, request samples, and consult an adviser for material calculations so you can choose the right collection for your project without hesitation.
